One of the coldest, snowiest winters in years is extending an icy hand into the spring sports season.
Some Bentley athletic teams have had flights canceled due to snow. Others have been forced to practice indoors. So, how has the snow truly been affecting our athletes?
Jack Jenson, a freshman student on the baseball team, explained how his team could not fly back to Massachusetts after their games in South Carolina.
“We were stuck in Myrtle Beach from Friday to Wednesday,” Jenson said. “Even though we were stuck, we got to spend a lot of time together, like team bonding, so it really didn’t get in the way of practice.”
According to Jenson, snow does not stop their routine from running. Baseball athletes practice inside, unless the weather says otherwise.

For Deon Li, a freshman student in the men’s volleyball club, his team spent a weeklong stuck in Chicago. Li expressed his gratitude to Bentley professors for being so accommodating and understanding about his canceled flight.
“I had to miss like four of my classes because our plane kept getting pushed over every hour,” Li said. “But I gotto do homework and play games with my team. We all had fun so nothing really to complain about.”
When asked about the upcoming volleyball tournament how it could affect their schedules, Li said, “We have an A and B team, so for tournaments, it would not affect our team at all, so it’s pretty cool, it’s fair playtime for my team too.”
Caroline Jadul, a sophomore student on the lacrosse team, explains how practices usually run for her teammates.
“This is the only field we practice here at Bentley,” Jadul said. Facilities use outside services for snow removal on the turf for athletes, including the Lacrosse team.
“I think it also creates patience as well as flexibility for each of us as players because we have developed skills to adapt with change which can be used in all aspects of our lives.” Jadul explained. “We are constantly learning to adjust and find different ways to get our sticks in our hands.”
